I’m Still Here:
Black Dignity in a World Made for Whiteness
By Austin Channing Brown
I’m Still Here is a book written by Austin Channing Brown as a semi-memoir/semi-resource for black people in the United States who grapple with the ethnic identity in a country made for White people. This book was also written for white people that desire to grow in their understanding of the black experience and know where to start in the pursuit of racial justice.
I read this book about a year ago and it was profusely helpful, heartbreaking and encouraging. With the book being written by a black woman, there were segments and chapters that felt like Brown was speaking directly to me. The tears of longing for equality and grief from past hurts found solace in her words.
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone. Christian, non-Christian, Black, White, any race in-between. Plus, it's a short and quick read!
