HD Leader
By Derwin Gray

The landscape of America is growing in diversity. By the year 2050, or earlier, America will no longer be a white majority country. We are already seeing these changes come to reality as we look across the landscape of the schools and neighborhoods in our cities. There is no doubt that this growth of diversity will impact America in a multitude of ways. Derwin Gray, founding pastor of Transformation Church (Indian Land, SC), wrote the book, HD Leader, as a call to recognize this reality and instruct and encourage his fellow ministers to be prepared for the shift.

What is Gray’s response for the church? Being multiethnic. This book is a staple for The Ambassador and is the blood-life that gives The Ambassador its voice. Being a religious organization, The Ambassador aims primarily to speak to and encourage the church. Our biggest aim is reconciliation as there has been little of it in the American church. The church is as divided, if not more so, than America itself. The church remains the most segregated institution in America and Gray’s belief is that it will take multiethnic churches to reach a multiethnic America.

The HD leader will help readers:

  1. Understand that a multiethnic focus in planting and transforming churches is a biblical calling church leaders must encourage

  2. Identify and implement the best practices to help leaders build multiethnic churches

  3. Recognize that reconciliation between ethnic groups in the church is not just a social issue but a theological issue
